When Melody Bear and her friends first started to help children to enjoy dance, teachers and practitioners were using the frameworks Birth to Three Matters and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Since September 2008, teachers have used the EYFS which covers children from birth to 5 years. This has given us exciting ways to look at how we can work with Melody Bear to provide high quality experiences for children. The EYFS has been revised with revisions taking effect from September 2012. An EYFS appendix is available to teachers using Little Bear Feet, Melody Movement and/or Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves, outlining these revisions. The EYFS characteristics of learning listed below, together with the three prime areas of learning are detailed in the appendix together with examples of how children may demonstrate these when taking part in a Melody Bear class.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Melody Movement is an ideal curriculum for dance teachers providing dance sessions
within pre-school settings, with the syllabus complementing the Early Years Foundation
Stage (EYFS).
The Melody Bear HQ team are happy to advise teachers on class planning for sessions in nursery settings, drawing on the Class-in-a-Box syllabi and the Milligan Bear syllabus. Award cards designed for nursery schools are available which can be personalised to include the name of the nursery school or early years centre that the licensed Melody Movement teacher is visiting.
